The Google Phone — which, according to several reports, will be made by Google partners and will be available by the middle of 2008 — is likely to provide a stark contrast to the approaches of both Apple and Microsoft to the growing market for smartphones. It didn't take long for NBC Universal to get over its breakup with Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL). Just days after Apple announced that it won't carry new NBC shows for the upcoming primetime season, NBC's programs are already springing up on Amazon.com's (Nasdaq: AMZN) fledgling Unbox service.

This is a great move from Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. NBC accounts for 30% of the television shows sold through Apple's iTunes, including hits The Office, Heroes, and 30 Rock. Apple's loss will clearly be Amazon's gain.

Breaking up isn't so hard to do
This was a quick resolution to a nasty breakup on NBC's part. Things had gotten ugly in a hurry. It all started on Thursday, when NBC announced that it will pull out of Apple's digital video storefront once its contract expires in December.

Deezer is a website on which you can listen to all the music you want for free, legally.

Deezer is french, it has been founded by the creators of blogmusik.net. Blogmusik.net was illegal, and has been forced to close by rights owners. Now, the conceivers of the extinct site are considered as respectable and responsible people by the musical industry. Their new baby, Deezer, has contracted partnerships with the SACEM, the SPPF (group of independant labels), Sony, and even Free which want to compete Neuf telecom.

The business model is founded on advertising : there are two advertisements on the page, and the profits are dispensed to the artists depending on their success on Deezer.

The player of Deezer is in flash, and it is embedded in the page. As music is diffused by streaming, if you leave the page, music stops. You cannot download anything. Actually, there has been a weakness that enabled people to download mp3s, but now the system is secured.

If you can listen to the music that already belongs to the catalog of Deezer, you can also upload your own music collection, that will be included to the catalog if it matches with the database.

Here is a paradox : you can legally share and listen to illegally acquired music.
