the original Spam sketch
Here is the script:
The Spam Sketch from the second series of "Monty Python's Flying Circus" and "Monty Python's Previous Record"
(Spam = Spiced Pork And Ham, a sort of cheap luncheon meat)
Scene: A cafe. One table is occupied by a group of Vikings with horned
helmets on. A man and his wife enter.
Man (Eric Idle): You sit here, dear.
Wife (Graham Chapman in drag): All right.
Man (to Waitress): Morning!
Waitress (Terry Jones, in drag as a bit of a rat-bag): Morning!
Man: Well, what've you got?
Waitress: Well, there's egg and bacon; egg sausage and bacon; egg and spam;
egg bacon and spam; egg bacon sausage and spam; spam bacon sausage
and spam; spam egg spam spam bacon and spam; spam sausage spam spam
bacon spam tomato and spam;
Vikings (starting to chant): Spam spam spam spam...
Waitress: ...spam spam spam egg and spam; spam spam spam spam spam spam baked
beans spam spam spam...
Vikings (singing): Spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam!
Waitress: ...or Lobster Thermidor a Crevette with a mornay sauce served in a
Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with
truffle pate, brandy and with a fried egg on top and spam.
Wife: Have you got anything without spam?
Waitress: Well, there's spam egg sausage and spam, that's not got much spam in
it.
Wife: I don't want ANY spam!
Man: Why can't she have egg bacon spam and sausage?
Wife: THAT'S got spam in it!
Man: Hasn't got as much spam in it as spam egg sausage and spam, has it?
Vikings: Spam spam spam spam (crescendo through next few lines)
Wife: Could you do the egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam then?
Waitress: Urgghh!
Wife: What do you mean 'Urgghh'? I don't like spam!
Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!)
Waitress: Shut up!
Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Waitress: Shut up! (Vikings stop) Bloody Vikings! You can't have egg bacon
spam and sausage without the spam.
Wife (shrieks): I don't like spam!
Man: Sshh, dear, don't cause a fuss. I'll have your spam. I love it.
I'm having spam spam spam spam spam spam spam beaked beans spam spam
spam and spam!
Vikings (singing): Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Waitress: Shut up!! Baked beans are off.
Man: Well could I have her spam instead of the baked beans then?
Waitress: You mean spam spam spam spam spam spam... (but it is too late and
the Vikings drown her words)
Vikings (singing elaborately): Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful
spam! Spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam. Lovely spam!
Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Spam spam
spam spam!

Google Phone - New York Times
an interesting article! do you read the nytimes.com???
free but you have to register... and what's more... in the articles you can click on a word if you need the definition! (but not on the front page)...
"Mr. Rubin is one of the primary architects behind another product that also smacks of potential uber-coolness — the Google Phone. As Google’s “director of mobile platforms,” Mr. Rubin oversees dozens of engineers who are developing the software at the company’s sprawling campus here. The software embodies the promise of extending Google’s reach at a time when cellphones allow consumers to increasingly untether themselves from their desktop computers, as well as the threat that greater digital mobility poses to Google’s domination of Internet search.
The Google Phone — which, according to several reports, will be made by Google partners and will be available by the middle of 2008 — is likely to provide a stark contrast to the approaches of both Apple and Microsoft to the growing market for smartphones. Google, according to several people with direct knowledge of its efforts, will give away its software to hand-set makers and then use the Google Phone’s openness as an invitation for software developers and content distributors to design applications for it.
If the effort succeeds, it will be the most drastic challenge to date of the assertion by Microsoft — the godfather of the desktop PC — that Google and other members of the so-called open-source world can imitate but not innovate."

Top 100 Blogs - Special Feature from PC Magazine
what do you read, what do you watch, what do you listen to???? Here is a best-of list from PC Magazine.
have a great break!
james
"Sure, we chose a few blogs for our Top 100 Undiscovered and Classic Web Sites lists, but we couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. There were plenty of Web apps and sites, but let's face it, in the past few years, weblogs have become one of (if not the) most dominant aspects in our daily Web-surfing routine. So we set forth on the task of rounding up thePC Magazine staff's favorite blogs. Perhaps surprisingly, the hardest part of the task wasn't finding 100 blogs that our staff members liked, but rather whittling our original choices down to a mere 100. Here are our choices."

Amazon 1, Apple 0
this is from the motley fool website...
(a site all about money, money, money)
enjoy jamesIt didn't take long for NBC Universal to get over its breakup with Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL). Just days after Apple announced that it won't carry new NBC shows for the upcoming primetime season, NBC's programs are already springing up on Amazon.com's (Nasdaq: AMZN) fledgling Unbox service.
This is a great move from Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. NBC accounts for 30% of the television shows sold through Apple's iTunes, including hits The Office, Heroes, and 30 Rock. Apple's loss will clearly be Amazon's gain.
Breaking up isn't so hard to do
This was a quick resolution to a nasty breakup on NBC's part. Things had gotten ugly in a hurry. It all started on Thursday, when NBC announced that it will pull out of Apple's digital video storefront once its contract expires in December.

Let's legalize your mp3s !
Deezer is french, it has been founded by the creators of blogmusik.net. Blogmusik.net was illegal, and has been forced to close by rights owners. Now, the conceivers of the extinct site are considered as respectable and responsible people by the musical industry. Their new baby, Deezer, has contracted partnerships with the SACEM, the SPPF (group of independant labels), Sony, and even Free which want to compete Neuf telecom.
The business model is founded on advertising : there are two advertisements on the page, and the profits are dispensed to the artists depending on their success on Deezer.
The player of Deezer is in flash, and it is embedded in the page. As music is diffused by streaming, if you leave the page, music stops. You cannot download anything. Actually, there has been a weakness that enabled people to download mp3s, but now the system is secured.
If you can listen to the music that already belongs to the catalog of Deezer, you can also upload your own music collection, that will be included to the catalog if it matches with the database.
Here is a paradox : you can legally share and listen to illegally acquired music.
Wait and see...

Presentation Zen: PowerPoint: sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying
"PowerPoint: sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying
PowerPoint is a great tool for displaying visuals that enhance, illustrate, and generally magnify your narrative. It’s been used effectively for years by millions of professionals from such disciplines as academia, engineering, medicine, business, education, government (mostly ineffectively in this case), design, technology, and comedy. Comedy?"
Here is one of the examples:
How to Change the World: The 10/20/30 Rule of PowerPoint
Here's the text of the video!
"As a venture capitalist, I have to listen to hundreds of entrepreneurs pitch their companies. Most of these pitches are crap: sixty slides about a “patent pending,” “first mover advantage,” “all we have to do is get 1% of the people in China to buy our product” startup. These pitches are so lousy that I’m losing my hearing, there’s a constant ringing in my ear, and every once in while the world starts spinning. Before there is an epidemic of Mnire’s in the venture capital community, I am trying to evangelize the 10/20/30 Rule of PowerPoint. It’s quite simple: a PowerPoint presentation should have ten slides, last no more than twenty minutes, and contain no font smaller than thirty points."
Welcome!

Have a great week.... looking forward to your contributions to our blog!

Laptop With a Mission Widens Its Audience - New York Times
"In November, you’ll be able to buy a new laptop that’s spillproof, rainproof, dustproof and drop-proof. It’s fanless, it’s silent and it weighs 3.2 pounds. One battery charge will power six hours of heavy activity, or 24 hours of reading. The laptop has a built-in video camera, microphone, memory-card slot, graphics tablet, game-pad controllers and a screen that rotates into a tablet configuration.
And this laptop will cost $200."
Just think! even cheaper than an iPod.... did you know that you can double-click on a word in the NY Times articles to get the pronunciation and definition... :-) see you soon!
